Kathleen Forbes, MD, is the executive vice president of clinical affairs and business development at the University of North Texas Health Science Center and the President and CEO of UNT Health, the clinical enterprise of the health science center. In her dual role she oversees clinical quality, patient safety, clinical innovation, performance improvement, clinical operations, practice growth and building effective community partnerships while collaborating with local hospitals on projects and alliances that will benefit the community.

Dr. Forbes earned a Master of Medical Management from the American College of Physician Executives/Carnegie Mellon University; a Medical Doctorate from the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Ohio; and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Psychology from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She is currently completing a Master in Business Administration from University of Texas in Dallas.   She is a board certified Family Physician and completed her residency at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio.

Prior to coming to UNTHSC, Dr. Forbes served as the Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer for TriHealth, a large hospital system in Cincinnati. She has years of clinical practice experience having begun a private practice in Cleveland, Ohio, growing it into a multiple physicians, multi-site practice.

Dr. Forbes has served on multiple boards and leadership roundtables, which include current board membership on the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council Foundation Education and Research Board, the Consolidated Health Services Board, a member of the Catholic Health Initiatives Physician Executive Council, the executive steering committee and medical  directors’ council for the Greater Cincinnati Council Quality Improvement Project, the National Healthcare Quality Roundtable, the Leadership Institute and the National Healthcare Chief Medical Officers Roundtable.
