Inaugural Ceremony
The ceremony inaugurating Dr. Scott B. Ransom as the UNT Health Science Center’s fifth president was held on Oct. 19, at the Fort Worth Convention Center Ballroom
 The theme for the inauguration was “A World of Possibilities.” As part of the ceremony Health Science Center faculty, staff and students represented their nations of origin by carrying their country’s flag in the procession and wearing native costume. |
 The inaugural ceremony was attended by several members of the Health Science Center family including Dr. Carl Everett, TCOM’s surviving founder. |

 During the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Ransom was presented with the Health Science Center’s new mace and medallion. The mace is a walnut staff with the Health Science Center’s seal. It is a symbol of pride and the power of the academic quest for truth and wisdom. The Presidential Chain of Office consists of four engraved banners representing each of the Health Science Center’s schools. It represents authority and harmony. The Inaugural Medallion is cast in bronze and is adorned with the Health Science Center’s seal and a special inscription to commemorate Dr. Ransom’s inauguration. |
