Coordinating and integrating telemedicine technology with primary healthcare, biomedical research, and physician education is a major goal of the Health Science Center. Telemedicine improves the delivery of healthcare to rural and underserved communities, and reduces the sense of professional isolation often reported by practitioners in these types of communities. Telemedicine is critical in the effort to help rural Texas communities get the healthcare they deserve and make it possible for physicians to live and work in rural communities successfully.
