ERAS Info

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) developed ERAS, the Electronic Residency Application Service, to transmit residency applications, letters of recommendation, Dean’s Letters, transcripts and other supporting credentials from medical schools to residency program directors via the Internet.

ERAS is comprised of MyERAS, the Dean’s Office Workstation, the Program Director's Workstation and the ERAS Post Office. To access MyERAS you must first contact the UNTHSC ERAS Office to request your token, a code that you need to register and access for MyERAS online.

MyERAS includes work areas where you may complete your application, select programs and create and assign supporting documents. Click here to explore the ERAS site. It offers helpful information about the application process including interactive tutorials and answers to frequently asked questions.

Once you have registered using your token, completed your online application, applied to programs and specified supporting documents to be used, the Office of Student Affairs will be notified electronically.

At this time, transcripts, letters of recommendation, an individual photo, and your Dean’s Letter (released November 1st) are transmitted to the ERAS Post Office where they are placed in the electronic mailboxes of the residency programs that you selected. Using the Program Director’s Workstation, residency programs are able to download applications and supporting documents from the ERAS Post Office. Program Directors will print, review and evaluate applications using criteria they have established. You are encouraged to print your completed ERAS application and place a copy in your Student Affairs student file; this will be especially helpful should you need to scramble.

The ERAS Post Office will be operational on July 15th. You will be notified when tokens may be requested. Remember that ERAS is not the same as either of the Matches; AOA Intern/Residency or AMA's NRMP. Applicants must register for the matching services, as well as ERAS in order to participate in the services of each program.
