STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
1. Provide Opportunities For UNTHSC Retirees To Remain More Closely Associated With The University Health Science Center. For example, serve as ad hoc or special committees; offer counseling to new faculty or staff; participate in written or oral department histories; assist with advising prospective and current students; give occasional lectures or participate in training and/or orientation sessions; encourage alumni relations with the College; publicize events of interest to retired persons; facilitate gifts and bequests to the College; provide volunteer services or part-=time employment; lead campus walk-abouts and tours.
2. Identify Needs of Retired Members of the University Community and Initiate Procedures to Extend Beneficial Services to UNTHSC Retired Persons. For example, facilitate course registration for continuing education; library privileges; parking privileges; identification cards; lectures on income taxes; investments; tax shelters; estate planning; sports and physical fitness programs; assistance with tickets and ticket discounts; assistance to incapacitated retired persons; including telephone reassurance program; counseling newly widowed retirees, spouses or dependents; dissemination of information of interest to UNTHSC retired persons.
3. Schedule Periodic Social Events and Facilitate Friendships. For example, UNTHSC annual reception for retired group; committees within the association to foster common-interest activities; group travel; house-sharing and transportation-sharing; maintaining old friendships more conveniently and making new friends; directory of TCOMN retired persons, addresses and telephone numbers.
Former employees retired from positions with UNTHSC and their spouses, are eligible to apply for membership in the Association. The spouse of a deceased faculty of staff member who would have been eligible for membership shall also be eligible for membership in the Association.
Upon application to the Secretary of the Association, retired persons of UNTHSC and the spouses of such former employees, may be eligible for membership in the Association upon approval by the Executive Committee of the Association.
