The New Center for BioHealth
WHY HERE? WHY NOW?
Until there’s a cure for every disease and disability,
we’ve got work to do.
We must expand our lab and training space to accommodate the
fastest-growing academic research program in Texas, as well
as our exciting new joint ventures with biotechnology industries.
This is what it takes to achieve the breakthroughs, and to
decrease the time required to move new drugs and medical devices
from discovery to bedside.
Demand exceeds supply.
Many of tomorrow’s healthcare providers, scientists
and protectors of America’s public health begin their
careers here, but we must limit enrollment in some of our best
programs because of inadequate facilities and equipment.
HOW MUCH IS NEEDED?
The State of Texas invested $27.5 million for construction
and partial finish-out.
Approximately $15 million from federal sources, individuals,
businesses and foundations is needed to complete the job.
