Dr. David Ray, Bridgeport , is in the process of building a 30-bed hospital in Bridgeport with thirteen other doctors from Wise County . The hospital is due to be finished in spring 2005.

Dr. Thomas Hemmer recently joined Geisinger Women's Health in State College , Pa. Dr. Hemmer completed his internship and residency at the Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco . (April 2004)
Dr. Michael LeCompte, Corpus Christi , is pleased to announce that his youngest daughter received her bachelor of science in Nursing from the University of Hawaii in December 2003. He now has two daughters who are RNs.
Dr. Harold D. Lewis is a clinical associate professor at UNT Health Science Center and was named "Family Physician of the Year" by the Texas Society of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians in 2003. Dr. Lewis has been active in Family Practice, Occupational and Sports Medicine in Austin for 20 years and also participates in the Texas Statewide Preceptorship program. (October 2003)
Dr. Alan Stockard, San Marcos , is currently working as a Primary Care Team Physician for Texas State University (formerly Southwest Texas State ). He is also a full-time employee of Hill Country Sports Medicine in the Orthopedic Surgery Group.

Dr. Edwin Holland, Sebastopol , Calif. , is currently completing a book and is involved in implementing an interactive medicine program for Palm Drive Hospital in Sebastopol . Dr. Holland spoke twice about autism in 2003, at the University of California-Irvine Conference on Environment and Children's Health and the Oregon State Osteophatic Meeting. He continues to write, perform and produce music and is busy raising four children with his wife of 23 years, Jeanne.
Dr. Steven Leifheit, Seattle , Wash. , has resided in the area for 15 years. He has a 15-year-old daughter who loves high school.

Dr. Mary Ganz, Brookfield , Wis. , continues to practice Adolescent Medicine in association with the Medical College of Wisconsin and The University of Wisconsin Medical School. She also trains residents at Marquette University in Student Health. Her husband, Bob, is an anesthesiologist at a community hospital in Oconomowc , Wis. Her son Luke, a sophomore at Washington State University , studies computer science in the Department of Engineering. Her daughter Emily plans to attend either the University of Arizona or NYU with a focus in dance next year.
Dr. Frank D. Setzler joined the staff of Completely Fit Health Foundation, Inc. in Jefferson , Texas , in 2003 to provide alternative and preventive health care needs. Dr. Setzler and his wife Dottie have five children named Kathryn, Randall, Ryan, Reagan and Ross. (July 2003)

Dr. Stephen Fletcher, Houston , was appointed chief of the section of Pediatric Neurosurgery at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston . He is also the chairman of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Hermann Children's Hospital.
Dr. Christopher Hull, Fort Worth , currently serves on the board of the TCOM Foundation and the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr. H. Gerhart Smith, Burleson, has a daughter, Ellie, who will graduate from high school in May. Ellie plans to attend TCU in Fort Worth .

Dr. Aaron David, Merrick , N.Y. , and his wife Louis are happy to announce the marriage of their daughter, Rebeka, to Gabriel Boxer in 2001. They are very excited about the birth of their grandson, Jonathan Jeremiah Jacob, who arrived on July 20, 2002 .
Dr. Ann Nolen, Round Rock, has established a new family practice with a partner, called Partners in Family Medicine, PA, 1231 Leander Road, Georgetown, Texas.
Dr. David Wayne Tyler, Lubbock , has retired from Family Practice due to medical disability.

Dr. Steven Bander, Wylie, is the current president-elect for TOMA District 5. Dr. Bander is a member of the TCOM Boogie Band, which includes Dr. Dan Saylak '83 and Dr. Ken Nowotny '82. The band recently recorded the TCOM Boogie Band World Tour 2003 CD. All proceeds from the CD are going to TCOM scholarships through the Alumni Association.
Dr. Steve Buchanan, associate professor in the obstetrics/gynecology department, received the 2004 American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists Distinguished Service Award in March. Dr. Buchanan currently serves as executive director of this organization. (March 2004)
Dr. Bruce Faber, Grand Junction , Colo. , recently moved to the area in June of 2003. He would like to thank Drs. Jerry and Gloria Gage for their help and friendship. He enjoys skiing, fishing, hunting and horseback riding in the area as well as the high desert climate that does not involve snow shoveling.
Dr. George Knapp, Saratoga Springs , N.Y. , is staying busy in his private family practice. He is married and has five children who range in age from 5 to 15.

Dr. Patrick Hanford, Lubbock , was elected vice president of the Texas Medical Foundation in 2003. TMF is a medical peer review and quality improvement organization for Texas that is made up of licensed physicians. Dr. Hanford is a family physician and is also co-director of Highland Hospital 's skilled nursing facility. (August 2003)

Dr. David Teitelbaum, Fort Worth , has his own practice that includes Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Acupuncture, and Chinese Herbs and Prolo Therapy. He and his wife Melinda have three sons.

Dr. Judith K. Werner, Family Practice, was featured in the November 2003 edition of D Magazine as one of the top 572 physicians in 35 specialties according to a peer-based poll of 6,000 local physicians. (January 2004)
Dr. Albert Yurvarti, professor of surgery at UNTHSC, was presented with the Distinguished Service Award by the American Heart Association's Fort Worth division at its annual awards banquet in June 2003. The Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor an AHA division can give to a volunteer. Dr. Yurvarti was recognized for his dedication to advancing the mission of the AHA and going far and above his responsibilities as a volunteer. (April 2004)

Dr. Susan Dalton, Tucson , Ariz. , has recently moved to the area. Partially retired, she is enjoying perfecting her artistic techniques. Her current project is a portrait of Dr. Still. Dr. Dalton plans on donating the portrait to TCOM when it is complete.

Dr. Michael A. Carnevale is the medical director and vice president for the medical department of Mendocino Community Health Clinics Inc. The company operates three large multi-service health clinics in north California wine country.
Dr. Minoo Jahani, Plano , is currently working as a solo anesthesiologist in Plano and Richardson . He has two boys, ages 8 and 10.

Dr. Commie Hisey, Gonzales, recently celebrated 10 years in Gonzales. He started his practice with one partner and now has six physicians and two P.A.s. in the group where he is the medical director. He also serves as the chief of staff at Gonzales Hospital and as the medical director of Cartwheel Ledge Nursing Home. He and his wife Donna, married for more than 20 years, have two children, Ben, 19, and Matthew, 14.
Dr. Jan Leah Lamb (formerly Dunston), Fruita, Colo. , has relocated to Grand Junction , Colo. , after four years in Idaho . She is currently refocusing on General Pediatrics after ten years of specialization in child abuse and neglect. She is very happy to be living near her best friend Dr. Leslie Fuller '90 (formerly Vaught).
Dr. Ray D. Page was inducted as a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI) and was also named vice chair of its oncology/hematology section. Dr. Page serves as the director of Texas Cancer Care in Fort Worth and was the 2003 UNT Health Science Center Distinguished Alumnus. He and his wife, Dr. Sheila Page '92, have five children. His family enjoys sports, including golf, snow skiing, and soccer. (February 2004)
Dr. Richard Perry, Sanger, is pleased to announce that his family practice is booming. He plans to move his practice to a new 7,200 square foot facility in March 2004.
Dr. Perry is board certified in Family Practice, Sports Medicine, and Geriatrics.

Dr. Lisa Nash, Galveston , was promoted to the position of program director for UTMB Family Medicine Residency from interim status to a permanent basis in November 2003. She began foster parenting in September of 2003 and currently has a wonderful three-year-old named Whitney.

Dr. Leon Joplin, Buffalo Gap, was nominated by the Christian Country Music Association for New Christian Country Artist of the Year in 2003.

Dr. Martha Danhof, Fort Worth , is currently a hospitalist for IPC in downtown Fort Worth . Her daughter, Alyssa, age 11, was recently featured in seven performances of the Texas Ballet Theatre's Nutcracker performance at Bass Hall.
Dr. Paul Livingston, DeLeon, is the current medical director for Cross-Timber's Community Health Center , a federally qualified health clinic. Clinic locations include DeLeon, Eastland, and soon Brownwood .
Dr. Robert Wageneck, Kingsburg , Calif. , continues to work for United Health Centers of the San Juaquin Valley, working with migrant farm workers. He and his wife Kim will celebrate their 14 th wedding anniversary this summer. They have two children, Anne Marie, born July 2, 2003 , and Elijah.
Dr. Mark White and wife Karen (who received her Ph.D. from HSC in 1996) are the proud new parents of Valentina Aleta, born Dec. 4, 2001 , and Tyler Maxim and Anna Ludmila, twins born on June 5, 2003 . The trio was adopted from Yaroslavl , Russia , on January 28, 2004 . (March 2004)
Dr. Gregory Willis, Mechanicsburg , Pa. , joined the Women's Cancer Center of Central Pennsylvania as a gynecologic oncologist in July 2001. Dr. Willis completed his training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Community Hospital of Lancaster and then completed his fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and Pinnacle Health Hospitals . He is board eligible in Gynecologic Oncology and is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. When he is not teaching in several training programs, he enjoys family life, biking and fly fishing. Dr. Lon Fry, San Antonio , and his wife Tess (TCOM '95) are pleased to announce the birth of their son, Benjamin Richard, born November 28, 2003 .
Dr. Diana L. Koenig (Diana Spenger), Couch, Mo. , is currently working at Ozark Medical Clinic of Alton, Mo., as a family practitioner. She and her husband of four years, Don, have a large family of cats, dogs, and chickens. Dr. Koenig is planning a two-weeklong medical mission trip to Peru in September.

Dr. James Devney, Omaha , Neb. , is currently the medical director of Physiatry as well as assistant professor for the department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the Creighton University School of Medicine.
Dr. Richard M. Gaddis is the father of seven children "and counting." He loves the mountains of east Tennessee , but he has fond memories of his time in Fort Worth at TCOM which are filled with his many supportive classmates.
Dr. Lainie Shook, Temple , is the curriculum coordinator for third and fourth-year Texas A&M medical students. She married in November 2003.

Dr. John Biery will soon be finishing his Family Practice residency at Naval Hospital in Jacksonville , Fla. He and wife Shari , son Kyle, and daughter Kaitlyn look forward to spending two years in the middle of the Pacific after they transfer to Naval Hospital Guam in August 2004. Dr. Biery reports that Kyle is a soccer player just finishing kindergarten and Kaitlyn is a "delightful two-and-a-half-year-old!" (April 2004)
Dr. Salim Bhaloo, Madison Heights , Mich. , and his wife Zahra are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Aliyana, born May 29, 2003 . Dr. Bhaloo currently serves as chief resident in Otolaryngology and Orofacial Plastic Surgery at St. John Oakland Hospital in Madison Heights .
Dr. Paul Croarkin, Silver Spring , Md. , is currently serving in the U.S. Navy as assistant chief of Inpatient Psychiatry at Walter Reed Army Medical Center . He is enjoying Maryland with his wife Mony and his one-year-old son Kyle.
Dr. Daralynn Deardoff, Dallas , has passed written and oral exams to become board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She and her husband Walter also announce the birth of their first child, Joye Deardoff Hatter, born November 2, 2003.
Dr. Scott Johnson, Salt Lake City , Utah , completed a fellowship in Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine at the University of Utah . Dr. Johnson plans on starting a sports medicine practice in Salt Lake City.

Dr. Carl Chakmakjian, Temple , will complete a fellowship in Medical Oncology in June 2005 at Scott and White Memorial Hospital at Texas A&M College of Medicine.
Dr. David Dent, Chicago , Ill. , will complete his residency in Occupational Medicine at the University of Illinois Medical Center in June 2004. Dr. Dent will also receive his master of public health from the University of Illinois on May 7, 2004 . He will begin a Sports Medicine fellowship at the University of North Texas Health Science Center on July 1, 2004 . (April 2004)
Dr. Hsui-Bun Hsu, Houston , is a fourth-year resident in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Baylor College of Medicine/University of Texas-Houston Alliance.
Dr. Bradley Kurtz, New Orleans , La. , completed his Pediatrics residency at Tulane in 2003. He is now working in private practice and plans to join his father's practice in Denver , Colo. , this summer. He and his wife, Dr. Emai Ho '00 (who will join him in Denver to practice Emergency Medicine) celebrated their three-year anniversary in March.
Dr. Sini Ninan Poulouse, Bryan, recently married Shibu Poulouse. Dr. Poulouse is currently working as a family practitioner in the Bryan/College Station area.

Dr. Roberto Cardarelli is in his last year as the Chief Resident for the Department of Family Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston . Dr. Cardarelli will complete a fellowship this June in Faculty Development, and then join HSC as an assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine in July. His primary interests are chronic disease management and evidence-based medicine and clinical research. (May 2004)
Dr. John Winningham, Fort Benning , Ga. , is currently at Fort Benning and will soon accept a transfer to Fort Still , Okla. There is a high probability that Dr. Winningham will be sent to Iraq in the coming months for a year-long tour of duty.

Dr. Gheath Al-Atrash, dual D.O./Ph.D. graduate, accepted a Medical Oncology/Hematology fellowship at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston , which will start in July 2005 and end in 2008. Dr. Al-Atrash and his wife Kristin also announce the birth of their first child, a son born on August 22, 2003 , named "Robbie" Jabr. (March 2004)
Dr. Tina Schuster, Sterling Heights , Mich. , was accepted into a Urology residency program at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital (POH) in Pontiac , Mich. She is currently finishing her General Surgery year at Bi-County Community Hospital in Warren , Mich.

Dr. Terry D. Hashey, Jacksonville , Fla. , welcomed his second
son into the world, Gregory Michael, in Jacksonville on the
second day of his internship. His first son, Zachary, is the
proud owner of a Texas flag flown over the state capitol, which

Dr. Paul Aoun, dual D.O./Ph.D. graduate, has been matched for a residency in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Johns Hopkins has been ranked as the number one school of medicine in the nation for the past 13 consecutive years. Dr. Aoun's research interests include neuroprotective potential of therapeutic drugs used for the treatment of type II diabetes and the role of non-feminizing estrogens play in protecting neuronal cells.
