Videoconferencing or Distance Learning Services

Videoconferencing and Distance Learning technologies have succeeded in bridging distances between people and resources. Distance Learning, which utilizes videoconferencing, makes it possible to offer UNTHSC courses to students who live far from the Fort Worth campus. This technology offers convenience and flexibility to the distant learner. Costs associated with Video conferences and Distance Learning courses depend on sites that are connected.

Satellite teleconferences are live, one-way video, two-way audio programs delivered via satellite to locations anywhere in the world. Satellite teleconferences allow registered participants to see and hear the live presentation and then, during a designated question and answer segment, ask questions of the presenters, utilizing an 800 phone number and/or a fax number. We have received valuable satellite broadcasts from such sources as the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Southern Medical Association, to name a few. We can provide access to programs carried on both C and Ku satellite bands. You will need to submit a facilities reservation form to Facilities Scheduling to reserve a viewing room. The room must be equipped with a video projector and should be able to accommodate the number of attendees you expect.

Our Division can record programs and news stories off the air for educational purposes. We also provide, to various rooms on campus, audio and video feeds of live and pre-recorded programs. Video Production Services

We can video tape here on campus in any room, or off campus on location. There is also a production studio (LIB 116) available. The Mini-Auditorium (LIB 110) is also permanently setup for a two camera remote "live to tape" shoot. We can video tape your presentation on VHS, S-VHS, or DV tape formats. Using our non-linear editing capabilities, we can take your video taped presentation or patient bank materials and convert them into a digital format. These can then be placed stand alone on CD or incorporated into other digital media presentation formats including the web. We provide mass duplication with custom labels of your existing video tapes or any video tape we produce if requested.
