Digital Prepress

Files prepared by Medical Arts are sent electronically to Print Services for printing. Staff will determine most efficient method of duplication. Plates required for Offset Printing are generated in Print Services by Digital Imagesetter, this state-of-the-art high resolution (computer-to-plate) system allows plates to be imaged by laser in a fraction of time taken to make negatives and metal plates. Files or jobs requiring Electronic Printing are sent directly from desktop to the imaging drum in RISO network printer.

Offset Printing

This high quality method of printing is used for the UNTHSC Stationery Package; Stationery & Envelope, Business Cards, Notecards & Envelopes. Items are printed on official UNTHSC stock with two colors of ink Black & PMS 207 Maroon ink. Offset Printing is best suited for standardized and regularly reprinted items, ordering in bulk and not reprinting small quantities often during the course of the fiscal year will reduce costs.
Electronic Printing

This process is used for all NCR Forms, Newsletters, Labels, Appointment Cards, Post Cards, Envelopes, etc., printing is done in one color of ink (black, maroon, green). Items can be printed in small or bulk quantities, minimum sheet size 3x5, maximum 11x17.

Duplicating
Services include high-speed duplication and assembly of classroom materials (syllabi, handouts, lab manuals), examinations, office forms, etc. Duplicating equipment in Print Services is capable of high-quality production of needed charts, graphics, drawings and photographs. Copies can be duplexed, either from single or double-sided originals, and produced on a variety of paper stocks and colors.

*Classroom examinations should be taken directly to Print Services, in accordance with the following procedure:

1. a duplicating appointment should be made by telephone 2 to 4 days in advance.
2. a representative of the academic department should plan on remaining in Print Services while the test is being copied and packaged.

Finishing Services

Finishing services available include folding, cutting, trimming to specific size, drilling (2-hole, 3-hole) production of pads, insertion of dividers and/or tabs, collation, sequence numbering, stapling (portrait, landscape, book), booklet making, and binding, both GBC (plastic comb) and CoverBind (adhesive, ready-made one-piece covers). Additionally, all jobs completed in Print Services are packaged for safe and compact transport and delivery. Clients seeking services not listed are encouraged to inquire.
