To accommodate our growing student body and expand our capabilities to meet the health care needs of our community, the UNT Health Science Center will add more than 300,000 square feet of floorspace to its campus over the coming years. The first step in the Health Science Center’s phased five-year plan -- the 112,000-square-foot Medical Education & Training Building on the former Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas site -- will take our legacy of innovation to an entirely new level.
Demolition on the former Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas was completed in August 2008. The first two levels of the Medical Education & Training Building opened for classes and special events on May 20, 2010.
Medical Education & Training Building features:
- Two 250-seat auditorium-style classrooms that can be joined into one 500-seat space, with state-of-the-art audio and visual equipment
- Size-flexible conference and meeting facilities on the first floor, which will allow for groups as small as 25, but can also be expanded to hold larger events
- A small café-style eating area
- Additional classroom and meeting space, separated from the auditorium by a 35-foot atrium
- A large osteopathic manipulative medicine training room
- A new, state-of-the-art patient simulator training facility
- Office space for our growing faculty
