NEW FEDERAL REGULATION FOR REPEATED COURSEWORK

(Effective July 1, 2011)

Per new federal regulations, UNTHSC can only provide financial aid funds for previously passed coursework one additional time.

  • For example: A student makes a C in a course, and then retakes the course to earn a better grade; the student makes another C in that course and wants to retake it again. Financial Aid will not cover the 3rd attempt.

In addition, a student may not receive financial aid funding for a previously passed course if the student is required to retake that course because he/she failed a different course in a prior term.

  • For example: A student enrolls in course A and course B in the fall semester. Student passes course A but fails course B. If the student is required to take course A again because he/she failed course B, financial aid will not cover course A the second attempt.
