FAQ's

No one under the age of 16 years of age is allowed in the Founders' Activity Center under any circumstances (includes use of the outdoor basketball court). Anyone who wishes to utilize any of the Founders' Activity Center amenities must be 16 years of age and must be a member of the facility.

Can I join the FAC if I am not a student/do not work at UNTHSC? Return to Top

Absolutely! The FAC is open to alumni, employee/student spouses and significant others, employee dependents, and corporate members on a month-to-month basis. For prices and requirements, please visit our Membership Rates page.

Can I bring my child with me while I work out? Return to Top

No. The FAC does not allow anyone under the age of 16 years in the Founders' Activity Center under any circumstances. (This includes use of the outdoor basketball court.) Click here to view this policy.

When do I pay my monthly membership dues? Return to Top

All membership dues for corporate, alumni, and student spouses are expected no later than the 6th of each month. If dues are not received by the 6th of the month, you will not be allowed access to the facility until dues are paid. All payments received on the 1st-20th of a month, go towards the current month. Payments received on the 21st-31st of a month, cover next month's dues as well as the rest of the current month.

Ex: Member pays their dues on the 20th of November; covers the month of November

I have not used the FAC for a while how will I be charged for the time I was gone? Return to Top

Currently the FAC does not have any contractual agreements regarding membership dues with non UNTHSC affiliated members. Members pay on a month-to-month basis paying only for the months that they utilize the facility. Members for pay for as many months as they wish at one time, however refunds will not be given under any circumstances. To activate your membership again after a break in attendance, simply pay your membership dues and you are set! If your ID badge has been lost, a $10 replacement fee for a new badge will apply.

If I am a member, can I bring a Guest with me? Return to Top

Yes. Any FAC member is able to bring a guest with them for a $3 day use fee (exact change only; cash only). The FAC does offer a guest pass good for 3 free visits to guests before initiating the $3 guest fee. Guests are only allowed one (1) free guest pass every six (6) months. Where can I park when I come to workout at the FAC? Return to Top

From 7am-5pm members may park in the LAST ROW (facing Clifton Street) of the large clinic lot (Lot C). The remainder of Lot C is open for member use AFTER 5pm on weekdays and ALL DAY on the weekends. (Approved by the UNTHSC Campus Police Dept on 12/16/2010)

Are there shower facilities in the FAC? Return to Top

Yes. Showers are available in both the men and women's locker rooms. Shower towels can be checked out at the front desk. Wall mounted hair dryers are also available in each locker room as well.

Can I check out equipment from the FAC? Return to Top

Yes. The FAC has several pieces of equipment available to check out for use off campus. To see what equipment is available and for more details on how to check the items out, contact Kyle Pawlak or Megan St. Vigne.

I'm an employee of UNTHSC, how do I sign up for membership? Return to Top

To become a member, visit our Membership Forms page. Both forms on that page will need to be filled out completely and sent via campus mail to Megan S--FAC or you can hand deliver the forms to the FAC front desk. Once the forms are on file, you can begin working out!

For payment, you can either utilize the payroll deduction option, listed on the Membership Forms page, or you can pay for one (1) year in full. Most employees opt for the payroll deduction as it is more convenient and can be stopped after a minimum of three (3) months.

I want to add my spouse or dependent to my membership. How do I do that? Return to Top

Unfortunately, your spouse/significant other/or dependent cannot be added to your payroll deduction. However, they are still eligible for membership. See the Membership Rates page for requirements and fees.

How do I stop my Payroll Deduction? Return to Top

To terminate your membership, simply fill out the Payroll Deduction form located under the "Membership Forms" section of our website and sign the "Termination" line. Once signed, send the completed form via campus mail to Megan S--FAC to finish processing. All forms must be received at the FAC no later than the 9th of each month to ensure that no deduction will be pulled on your next paycheck.
