Access the AOA Opportunities page for listings and descriptions of AOA residency programs; access FREIDA for listings and descriptions of AMA residency programs.

Consider requesting a letter of recommendation for your residency application once you have successfully complete a rotation.

Begin drafting your personal statement and CV. You may request assistance with your writing from the Career Services Office.
May through August

Schedule your Dean's interview by contacting The Office of Student Affairs.

Provide Student Affairs with a copy of your personal statement and CV for your student file.
May through August

Request information from AOA and ACGME programs; make a note of the deadline dates for application completion and interviewing.
- Follow up with physicians who are writing letters of recommendation for you. Make sure you send thank you notes once you have received your letters.
July through September

Complete the AOA/ACGME Match Agreements; watch your email for notices from the Office of Clinical Education, plus the ERAS, Match and CiM Offices.
...During Year Four

Complete NRMP Match Agreement as an Independent Applicant; obtain ERAS materials and instructions. Watch your email for notices and announcements from the Office of Clinical Education, plus the ERAS, Match and CiM Offices.
July through September

Your ERAS 'token' will be emailed to you from the ERAS Office. Complete the online application and select your programs. If you have questions, please email: eras@hsc.unt.edu.
August through September

Contact programs that are not participating in ERAS to confirm receipt of all necessary application documents. Review your Dean's letter for content accuracy.

Distribution of the Dean's letters occurs.
August through January

Interviewing at residency training programs begins. Check with each individual program regarding their deadlines.
October 15th

Dean's letters are released to those ACGME programs participating in ERAS.
December through January

San Francisco Match, some ACGME specialties, and the Military Matches occur.
Late January

Submit your AOA rank order list; date to be specified.
Late February

Submit your NRMP (ACGME) rank order list; date to be specified.
Second Week of February

AOA Match results; second Monday in February.
Third Week of March

ACGME match results; the third Monday in March. Note: If you match with the AOA, you will automatically be dropped from the NRMP. Should you contract with an ACGME program outside the Match or AOA after the Match, you must withdraw from one or both matches.
