Interim Faculty Appointments are to be used ONLY when absolutely necessary. This typically occurs in cases when the faculty member has not yet been reviewed by the appropriate P&T committee before their start date. (i.e. start date occurs before the next P&T meeting, or they are missing letters of recommendation, etc.)
To request an Interim Appointment please submit the following to Faculty Affairs:
The initial appointment is contingent upon completion and approval of the promotion and tenure process. The hiring department must work closely with Faculty Affairs to ensure that the faculty member completes the initial appointment process prior to the expiration date of the interim appointment (see Initial Packet Checklist under Forms for all other items needed to complete the packet for appointment)
Clinical Faculty - 120 days from Interim Appointment date to complete process
Non-clinical Faculty - 60 days from Interim Appointment date to complete process
