Family Medicine at the UNT Health Science Center at Fort Worth has many exciting, innovative and diverse activities in progress as our institution evolves and responds to the challenges of more creative educational models for teaching medical students and residents and the ongoing challenges of managed care. Primary health care is our focus and it is our success. Our department was recently named to the Top 20 Specialty Ranking in Family Medicine by the U.S. News & World Report, 2010 edition.
Family medicine plays a pivotal role in primary care and the Department of Family Medicine provides leadership within the institution by providing didactic or clinical preceptorships to provide student education and role-modeling in a highly interactive, clinically diverse environment. The development of data collections, outcome measures and other scholarly pursuits emphasize the importance of our primary care physicians role in fostering wellness.
