"This retreat was great. I missed the bonfire this year, but the conversation was still as good as last year, even though it was around a grill instead. It was valuable to see updates on everyone's research for the last 12 months, and the input has got me thinking about my projects as well."

Dr. Berg |
"I thought that the 2nd annual departmental retreat was a smashing success. Even with the limited time and the lack of a bonfire, social interactions appeared to be plentiful. The presentations and poster session were also very informative. I am definitely marking my calendar in anticipation of next years trip to Lake Texhoma."

"It was fun and get to know more about the research projects within the department. Good opportunity to discuss your project with the rest of the department and sometimes the discussion even leads to collaboration".

"The retreat was a very wonderful experience for myself and Karol. I did not expect such a beautiful place, wonderful people & good presentations. Maybe we should consider doing this twice a year." |

"The Lake Texoma retreat 2006 was real fun. I had a good time and had the oppurtunity to get to know everyone in the department." |

Karen Meeks |
"Better than getting caught up with people's research was getting caught up with people themselves. I got to interact with lots of people with whom I'd never before had the chance. The coolest thing I learned was that Adam Odeh can beatbox"!

"I had a great time at the retreat. The weather was perfect and the accommodations were better than I expected. The best part was sharing stories and laughs with faculty, students and staff and seeing the lighter and more fun side of everyone. Overall, I had a blast and will definitely go again next year". |

" I think this departmental retreat was great!! The weather was perfect for outside activity and everyone enjoyed it. I am sorry that I missed the real fun on the first night!! I will not go to bed too early(12:30 AM) next time."

"I did have much better housing conditions than any previous visit and the weather was beautiful. Moreover, I experienced absolutely no stress this year, and really got to enjoy the event. Simecka did an excellent job of promoting a relaxed atmosphere and group intermixing. I thought the competitions turned out much better than I initially anticipated. Sadly (???), I was not able to bring my full wardrobe of paraphernalia to keep every one amused throughout the Retreat."

The view was spectacular! The weather was great, a bit cold Thursday night, but nice.
The evening BBQ was a great way to get to know everyone and see different sides of people you work with everyday. I learned things about the students that does not come up on a daily basis. Like Anthony and Adam are spelling B champions and that Adam can rap! Who would have known? I learned that just too many of our students have been deprived of the childhood memory of making "Somemores" over an open camp fire or in this case a BBQ pit.
We all knew that BJ was great with the camera and the photos prove it once more.
The new research just keeps getting better.
I am looking forward to the next retreat.
