The Biomedical Skills Education and Research Laboratory (BSERL) was developed to advance the educational and research experiences of a broad range of professionals. Hospital physicians and surgeons, physician assistants, paramedics, residents in training, current medical students and corporate personnel have all used the facility for a variety of purposes. The success of the laboratory may be traced to several important factors. The laboratory has provided an avenue whereby surgical and life-saving emergency procedures can taught in a modern well- equipped facility outside the operating room. The facility has provided individuals the opportunity to review and study professionally dissected anatomical specimens guided in their efforts by a faculty schooled in the discipline of anatomy. And lastly, the laboratory is the only facility sanctioned by the State of Texas Anatomical Board where an adequate resource of human cadaver materials exist in Tarrant County, Texas.
