Welcome to the University of North Texas Health Science Center Office of Professional and
Continuing Education. Our mission is to expertly plan lifelong learning and continuing education activities to
meet the needs of medical professionals and researchers, the public health workforce and others who promote
health and safety. Our activities are designed to provide the most recent information and strategies to
facilitate health promotion, disease prevention and/or encourage understanding of public health issues on
local, regional and nationwide levels.

Improving COPD Outcomes in East Texas
Several COPD risk factors converge in East Texas, resulting in some of the highest rates of preventable hospitalizations in the state. UNT Health Science Center is targeting this area to decrease these rates and improve overall health outcomes related to COPD.
