STARS Forms
The STARS program provides an excellent opportunity
for undergraduate students to gain experience in a research laboratory under the
supervision of faculty and senior graduate students. Participants are selected
in open competition and must meet the following eligibility
requirements:
- Junior standing the upcoming fall semester
- 3.0 minimum cumulative grade point average
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
- Major in the life sciences (biology,
biochemistry, chemistry, biotechnology, etc.)
- Intention of pursuing a Ph.D. after
graduation

Summer Research Internship
Participants will be awarded faculty-mentored
summer research internships. These internships are full-time ten-week
commitments. Interns will:
- work with faculty mentor whose research
interests are related to their own;
- receive a stipend of approximately $3,000
- write a paper based on the intern's research
results; and
- develop a computer-assisted oral presentation
and a research poster to be presented at the end of the summer program
- program runs May 19 through July 25, 2008

Housing is not included in the

The following materials must be submitted by the applicant by March 31, 2008

for consideration):

- Two recommendation letters from faculty members.
