New Student Orientation

Welcome and congratulations on your acceptance to the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences! New Student Orientation is mandatory for all incoming students.

UNT Health Science Center is a microcosm of Fort Worth, our city. We are an urban campus located in the heart of the cultural district. We have a culturally diverse faculty, staff and student body. And though we are small by comparison to some academic medical centers, we excel in every area of our mission - education, research, patient care and community service.

It won't take you long to develop a real sense of pride about being a UNT Health Science Center student.  You are our product and the reason we are here. We will depend on you not only to be successful in your career but to be a spokesperson for this institution now and in your future career. It is our job to make sure we deliver on our promise to help make it happen for you.

Important Notes

Punctuality
Throughout your education and, later, in your professional career, the habit of tardiness is one of the single most destructive traits you can possess. We ask that you be on time, not just for orientation, but for every class, workshop and meeting you atend. It is a matter of courtesy to your fellow participants, orientation organizers, and session speakers. All orientation sessions are mandatory unless otherwise indicated. Failure to attend every session may result in dismissal.

Attire
Dress for orientation is casual. However, it is important that you comply with UNTHSC student dress code at all times when on our campus or off-site when representing the institution. The dress code can be found under the
General and Student Affairs Policies, Number 7.125.

Guests
Please do not bring a spouse, parent, child or other guest to orientation. Orientation programs are designed for incoming students only. Any individual not accepted into a GSBS program will be asked to leave.

TB Testing
We are required to test each student for TB. TB tests are administered by the Student Clinic located in the Center for BioHealth. Information regarding the testing schedule will be available at orientation.
