Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

 

POSITION The School of Public Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth invites applications for the senior faculty position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

QUALIFICATIONS The candidate must possess strong leadership and management ability and the capacity to facilitate the growth and the improvement of school curricula. In addition, the candidate must have a terminal doctoral degree in a public health discipline or a related area. Possession of a practice degree in public health, e.g., MPH or MHA, and experience as a department chair, division head, or program director is very desirable but not essential. A record of accomplishment in teaching, research, and external funding will also be considered in the selection of the final candidates. The Associate Dean must be able to provide leadership and support to the administration and a high quality group of faculty in each department, and be a driving force in promoting and fostering the participation of school faculty in the development of the content and the format of curricula.

RESPONSIBILITIES The successful candidate will serve as chief academic officer for the school, and is responsible for administrative and managerial duties, recruitment, supervision and evaluation of staff, enhancement of faculty teaching, and evaluation of departmental and school performance in implementing the academic aspects of the School s strategic plan. The Associate Dean will also have a limited role in teaching, advising, research, and service for the department in which she/he is appointed.

COMPENSATION AND RANK Rank at Associate Professor or Professor and compensation are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary is very competitive.

DEPARTMENT AND UNIVERSITY The UNT Health Science Center is the fastest-growing health science center in Texas. The School consists of five departments Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Environmental and Occupational Health, Social and Behavioral Science and Health Management and Policy. The School collaborates actively with the other schools in the Health Science Center the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the School of Health Professions as well as local, state, national and international agencies. The School s academic programs are complemented by programs at the University of North Texas in Denton and Dallas, Texas with which the several departments have academic and research ties.
