Engagement
Greg Upp is the senior vice president of Community Engagement for the
University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. Upp leads the
departments of Marketing and Communication and Institutional Advancement. He
also consults closely with the president of the Health Science Center on issues
that involve the institution s community involvement on multiple levels.
Upp
joined the Health Science Center in 2001 following a brief retirement from
Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, where he was most recently the regional
vice president in Fort Worth. Prior to that role, Upp served Southwestern Bell
as executive director and director of external affairs, among other roles in the
company.
Upp received his Bachelor of Arts in Far East Asian History from Emory University. He is also a Ford Career Scholar, completed Harvard Negotiation School, and attended Developing Public Relations Strategy at Boston College and Relating to Consumer Advocates at Georgetown University.
He serves on 26 boards and commissions, including the Executive Committee of
the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce; chairman of the Executive Committee of
Strategy 2000; vice chairman of the Executive Committee of Southeast Fort Worth,
Inc.; chairman of Downtown Fort Worth, Inc.; the Executive Committee of Fort
Worth Sister Cities; board member of the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber;
chairman of Fort Worth Community Partners, Inc.; a member of the Fort Worth
Library Foundation Board of Directors; the PACE Advisory Council of Executives
of Lena Pope Homes, Inc.; member of the Executive Roundtable; and board member
of Royal Caribbean Resorts International.
Upp also participates in various
fundraising drives, including those for UNCF, United Way, TWU, YMCA, Boy Scouts,
Sister Cities, Medical Incubator, Southeast Fort Worth, Inc., Millennium
Celebration and UNTHSC.
He is married with four children and six
grandchildren.
