One is an injectable vaccine and the other is a live oral vaccine. The decision on which typhoid vaccine to use depends on personal medical history as well as the timing of anticipated travel. The oral vaccine, which takes about one week to complete, generally provides protection for five years, whereas the injectable vaccine provides protection for two years.
