Welcome to Live@UNTHSC!

This guide will help you get started with your new Live@UNTHSC account. Please follow each step carefully.

Please be aware that your student Live email account and your Universal account passwords are NOT synched. When you change your Universal password it will not affect your student Live email password, and vice versa.    You will not be required to change your Live password after the initial password reset, however, your Universal password will change every 120 days. You may wish to keep these in sync, but it is not required.

Live@UNTHSC works best with Internet Explorer (IE7 and above). For Macintosh users, the Firefox browser is recommended. Many of the Live@UNTHSC features will not work in Safari.

Getting Started

Before you are able to login to Live@UNTHSC, you will need your student email address and your first login password. Your login id will be your universal user name (usually first letter of your first name, first 7 of your last name) @live.unthsc.edu (i.e. student@live.unthsc.edu). If you are alumni or a retiree, your login id will be your username@alumni.unthsc.edu or username@retire.unthsc.edu respectively.

Your initial password

Your initial password for Live@UNTHSC will be distributed during orientation, or given to you by the accounts administrator. Please contact the Accounts Administrator at 817.735.2231 to have your initial password re-issued if necessary.

Logging into Live@UNTHSC (the first time)

1. Launch Live@UNTHSC

2. Sign in with your Windows Live ID and password.

The Windows Live ID will be your student email address (yourusername@live.unthsc.edu). The password will be the initial one given to you in orientation.

3. Click the Sign In button

Note: When using a public computer, uncheck Remember me on this computer and Remember my password options to preserve the security of your e-mail account.

First time in – Provide Account Information

The first time you login to Windows Live, a Provide account information screen will appear. You will need to re-enter your original (initial) password. It is strongly recommended that you take the time to complete all the questions and follow the instructions to ensure you are able to easily reset your password and access your Live@UNTHSC account in the future.

Note: Remember, the Secret answer should be at least five characters and is NOT case sensitive.

If you already have another e-mail address you regularly use, you may enter it in Add an alternate e-mail address. This is another way you can reset your password if you forget it. Your password reset will be sent to this alternate e-mail address. You need to type the address in both boxes.

NOTE: The “Your Information” section is significant because it is required to reset your password using the security question you have entered above.

Click Submit.

Enter your Birth year.

Review and accept the Microsoft Windows Live service agreement and Privacy Statement by clicking I accept.

A Provide account information screen will appear indicating you just updated your personal information and password. Click the Sign in to Windows Live button.

A MS Office Outlook Web Access windows will appear. Select your language and time zone (Fort Worth TX is Central Time (US & Canada) GMT -6:00), and click OK.
