*Note: If you just need the last 30 days of email from GroupWise, and do not need folders, you do not need to follow these instructions. Instead, set up a POP subscription in Live - http://www.hsc.unt.edu/liveatunthsc/popsubscriptions.cfm.
Overview: If you wish to move Folders (and email in those folders) to Live, you will need to set up Outlook or another email client to access both Live and GroupWise via the email protocol called IMAP. Do NOT use these instructions for Outlook 2007.
In Outlook 2003 or another email client (such as Thunderbird), you will need to add an IMAP account for GroupWise, and another IMAP account for Live.
To Configure IMAP for Microsoft Live you will need the following information:
Name (as you wish it to be displayed on outgoing messages)
Your email address/username (i.e. username@live.unthsc.edu)
Incoming Mail Server (IMAP or POP server) - outlook.com (no www)
· Select SSL
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - pod51000.outlook.com
To Configure IMAP for GroupWise you will need the following information:
Name (as you wish it to be displayed on outgoing messages)
Your email address/username (i.e. username@hsc.unt.edu)
Incoming Mail Server (IMAP) – gwpop.hsc.unt.edu
· Select SSL, Port 993
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) – mail.hsc.unt.edu (you do not need to configure this portion for migration)
Once both accounts are created in the email client via IMAP:
1. Create folders under your Live mailbox with the same names as your folders in GroupWise.
2. Select email in the corresponding folder in GroupWise and drag and drop them into the folder in Live.
3. Repeat these steps until all the folders and email has been moved.
4. Log into Live Web Access (http://mail.live.unthsc.edu) and verify that everything has been moved.
5. Delete the GroupWise account from Outlook (or both GroupWise and Live if you will only be using the web version).
