On April 14, 2005, UNT Health Science Center took possession of the former Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas property.
Fall 2005-An Advisory Committee made up of community representatives and health science center representatives met six times at the health science center before recommending a master planner to the former President of the Health Science Center, Ronald Blanck, DO, and the UNT System Chancellor Lee Jackson.
Spring 2006-UNT System negotiates with Carter & Burgess/Polshek Partnership Architects and contracts with the group to take on the Phase I, 15-year, high-level Campus Master Planning beginning August 2006. The plan will take the health science center through June 2021.
August 2006-Scott Ransom, DO, MBA, MPH, becomes the health science center's fifth president, making a commitment to increase community outreach by establishing a department of community engagement.
August 2006-Carter & Burgess/Polshek Partnership Architects begin initial work on gathering data for the master planning process.
September 2006-UNT Health Science Center holds an open public meeting on campus, inviting the surrounding community to elicit comments and ideas about the future of the health science center and the surrounding neighborhoods.
