Distinguished Speaker Series launches this month Early detection of ovarian cancer and the improvement of women’s healthcare will be the focus of the first presentation in the Health Science Center’s new Distinguished Speaker Series. David Fishman, MD, director of gynecologic oncology and the Cancer Detection and Screening Program at the New York University School of Medicine and Cancer Institute, will be the series’ inaugural keynote speaker Feb. 22 in Luibel Hall. Registration for “The Detection of Early Stage Ovarian Cancer” will begin at 4:30 pm, with welcome and introductions at 5 pm. A reception in the Arium will follow the talk at 6:45 pm. The event is free. Each program in the new Distinguished Speaker Series, which will offer CME credits, will feature a keynote address by an internationally renowned scientist followed by a question-and-answer session with a panel that includes the speaker, local experts, UNTHSC faculty and relevant community members. Upcoming programs will focus on aging and Alzheimer’s disease; women’s health issues; physical and osteopathic manipulative medicine; and health equities. |
