Seen at the 2007 Cowtown Marathon: a few familiar faces Ximena Urrutia-Rojas, DrPH, RN, associate professor of social and behavioral sciences in the School of Public Health (far left in the photo) “walked the talk” at the 2007 Cowtown Marathon 5K as a representative of FitFuture, an initiative to stop the epidemic of obesity in youngsters that is administered by the Health Science Center and the JPS Health Network, and funded by United Way of Tarrant County. She was joined by teachers, parents, other administrators and seven third-grade students from Mitchell Boulevard Elementary who are enrolled in the health promotion program.
Kim Higgins, TCOM Class of 2007, made the Fox 4 news as she tended to the winner of the marathon, Keith Pierce, in the UNT Health medical tent.
Thousands of marathon participants and their family members came by the Health Science Center exhibit booth at the Cowtown Expo, which was staffed by the Office of Marketing and Communications. We gave away one of the most useful – and popular – freebies at the warm and windy event: lip balm, provided by UNT Health.
