The Health Science Center’s DNA Lab was featured on the cover of the March 19 Fort Worth Business Press. The article discusses the Texas Missing Persons Database, housed in the lab, as well as the lab’s role in contributing to the FBI’s Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). In the Star-Telegram The Star-Telegram printed an article in its March 6 edition about daylight-saving time, which began March 11. The article examined how the loss of an hour's worth of sleep can affect people, and Sherif Al-Farra, MD, the director of the UNT Health Sleep Medicine program, was quoted. The article also gave some tips for how to most easily adjust to the loss of an hour of sleep, the effects of sleep loss, as well as an explanation of the beginning of daylight-saving time and why it occurred three weeks earlier this year.
In the Dallas Business Journal and on Channel 11 The Health Science Center’s $2.27 million Emerging Technology Fund (ETF) grant to establish the Center of Commercialization of Fluorescence Technology was publicized in both the Dallas Business Journal and on KTVT channel 11, Dallas’ CBS affiliate.
