American Cancer Society Relay For Life
Jacklyn Crisp, administrative specialist in the Department of Molecular Biology and Immunology, first stayed up all night to fight cancer in 2005. She recruited a team of 15 Health Science Center colleagues to stay up with her in 2006. This year, as public relations and marketing chair for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life at Fort Worth, she’s recruiting thousands more to join her at the all-night community event, which will take place April 13-14 at Farrington Field on University Drive.
In 2007, more than three million Americans will participate in Relay For Life events nationwide, and Relay For Life events will be held in more than 23 countries around the world, all to raise both money and awareness for the fight against cancer.
Here in Fort Worth, two Health Science Center teams are preparing for the annual local gathering. Jacky is organizing the Institute for Cancer Research Team (which anybody can join), and Medical Student Rachel Clark is organizing the TCOM Class of 2010 Team.
