Health Science Center readies for 34th commencement
More than 300 students will graduate, including 126 new doctors of osteopathic medicine (DO) at this year’s commencement ceremonies. The ceremonies will take place May 19 at 2 pm at the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena.
This year’s commencement speakers include Maulik S. Joshi, DrPH, senior advisor at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Rockville Md., and Ana Luz Chiapa-Scifres, who will receive her Master of Public Health degree.
Degrees to be conferred by the other schools include 27 Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPA) degrees from TCOM; 80 Master of Science (MS) degrees and 13 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees from the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences; and 55 Master of Public Health (MPH) and seven Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degrees from the School of Public Health.
Two graduates will receive both DO and MPH degrees; six graduates will receive both DO and MS degrees; one graduate will receive DO, MS and MPH degrees; and two graduates will receive both DO and PhD degrees.Commissioning ceremonies for students who will be joining the military will take place immediately following the commencement ceremony.
