Thank you, nurses and medical assistants!

In celebration of National Nurses Week, May 6-12, UNTHealth honored our nurses and medical assistants (MA) with a luncheon in the Lewis Library atrium. Nurses and MAs working at all UNTHealth clinics were invited, and about 80 attended. 

Organizers felt that a practice-wide event would bring nurses and MAs together from the various departments, give them an opportunity to meet some of their peers and promote a sense of belonging to the larger practice group. 

Each guest of honor received a sling backpack as a token of appreciation for his or her hard work. And, Dr. Steve Buchanan provided a flower arrangement to complement the decorations as his personal thank-you to the nursing staff. Dr. Marc B. Hahn, TCOM dean, and Randy Jones, interim president of UNTHealth, were also on hand to express their appreciation to the nurses and MAs. 

Cookie bouquets were also sent to the nursing personnel at JPS clinics staffed by UNTHealth physicians in recognition of their teamwork with us. 

National Nurses Week is celebrated each year during the week of May 12, which is Florence Nightingale's birthday.
