Inauguration: Pomp and Circumstance and parties, too

Make plans now to help celebrate “A World of Possibilities.” Several events are planned to mark the inauguration of the Health Science Center’s fifth president, Dr. Scott Ransom. The inauguration ceremony is Friday, Oct. 19, at 2 pm at the Fort Worth Convention Center Ballroom… classes and clinics will be closed so faculty, staff and students can attend. Transportation for the event will be provided between the Health Science Center campus and the Convention Center.  But that’s not all…

After the inaugural ceremony, the UNTHSC Family is invited to the “World of Pasta-bilities” Campus Celebration back on campus at the Alumni Plaza, featuring live music by the Moo Town Rockers... a band of city administrators by day and rock-and-rollers by night! A free pre-DO Dash “carbo-loading” pasta dinner and drinks will be served. Be there for special surprises!

You, your family and friends are also invited to participate in the sixth annual DO Dash and community health and wellness fair on Saturday, Oct. 20, beginning at 8 am. This year’s 5k and 1k run/walk are sponsored by the TCOM Class of 2010. Proceeds will benefit patients who need colon cancer screenings.

The black-tie Inaugural Gala will begin at 6:30 Saturday night at the Renaissance Worthington Hotel.  The dinner and dance will feature music by Buddy’s Big Band, and proceeds will benefit the UNTHSC Fund for Excellence. Honorary chairs for the invitation-only event are Rep. Kay Granger and Edward P. Bass. Tables are available for corporate sponsorships.

Check the new inauguration Web site for more information on these events and more. UNT HSC Logo
