First Friday Update by President Scott Ransom

Another record-breaking campaign

Once again the Health Science Center family has reminded me why I am so happy to be a part of this institution – you have all demonstrated the true meaning of the words “Campus Pride.”

This year’s Campus Pride campaign was a record-breaker – 859 of our employees contributed $159,607 to the Health Science Center and $47,739 to the State Employee Charitable Campaign for a total of $207,346. Thanks to all of you who made contributions to the Health Science Center and the community. For those giving to the Health Science Center, I promise your gifts will be used to further our goal of making this a world-class institution.

As our “World of Possibilities” comes into focus with the construction of the first building on the West Campus, every dollar you gave to the Health Science Center will act as seed money to develop a world-class institution. Every dollar counts.

The money given to our student scholarships will help us recruit the best and brightest students in this country. One of the first things prospective students want to know is how we can help them financially. If we want the highest caliber of student here, we must be able to compete with other institutions by offering them the scholarships that they deserve.

As I promised last year, I will continue to openly communicate with you about how your dollars are used to make the Health Science Center a world-class institution. Whether you chose to give to student scholarships or the Fund for Excellence, you can be confident that your money will be used in the most effective and most efficient way to do your pride justice.
