UNTHSC Walk Across Texas team “Catch Us if You Can”
 … finished fourth in the state (in addition to leading the HSC and Tarrant County) with 3,786.92 total miles for the Walk Across Texas program. The team also finished first in the weight loss category with 35 pounds. Team members are: Diane Wynn, Shawn Jeffries, Karan Singh, Sejong Bae, Jim Stimpson, Elizabeth Medders, Jason Bradshaw and Erin Carlson.

Dr. Stephen Mathew, Research Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology & Immunology
… was invited to speak at SGHG Society for Rural Biotechnology Management, Department of Biological Sciences, R. D. University, Jabalpur, India, and St. Aloysius College, Jabalpur, India, in December 2007. He also was featured in local newspapers and on local television channels for his research on cancer and HIV.

Dr. Janice Knebl, professor and chief of geriatrics
… is quoted in an article on the graying of the medical practice in the January 2008 issue of Tarrant County Physician.

The Division of Student Affairs
… raised $350 for student scholarships at their chili cook off.  Jayme Evans, TCOM Class of 2010, took first place and the $200 prize. Daniel Wimmer, TCOM Class of 2010, earned second place, and Jen Daniels and Kendi Maruska teamed up to take third.

Game Night

The Graduate Student Association
… raised $1,000 dollars for the GSA’s Relay For Life team and the American Cancer Society at Game Night on Feb. 8.  At Game Night teams participated in ping pong, foosball, billiards and bingo in the student lounge.

Dr. Roberto Cardarelli, assistant professor in family and community medicine
… contributed an article to Clinical Nuclear Medicine journal. His article on detection of bone metastases in breast cancer patients is available on the journal’s web site.
