Regents name HSC professors emeritus
The UNT System Board of Regents named three retired UNT Health Science Center faculty members as professors emeritus at their meeting at the UNT Dallas Campus Feb. 7. Dr. Ming-chi Wu, Dr. Stanley Weiss and Dr. Alan Levine were approved by the board to receive the status. The rank of professor emeritus is awarded to faculty members who continue to make contributions to the Health Science Center after retirement.
Dr. Ming-chi Wu retired in December 2006 after 24 years in the Department of Molecular Biology and Immunology. Since retirement, Dr. Wu has taken the position of President of Development at the Center for Biotechnology in Taiwan and continues to support and participate in graduate student dissertation committees and other Health Science Center activities.
Dr. Stanley Weiss retired in November 1997 after 16 years in the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. Dr Weiss has been active member of the UNT Health Science Center Foundation Board since 2004. He has been a longstanding and active proponent of the Health Science Center for several decades.
Dr. Alan Levine retired in August 2007 after 28 years in the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Levine has been a consultant to the National Board of Examiners for Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons for his expertise in pediatrics. He continues to be involved in student education and other Health Science Center activities.
