UNT Health Leadership Transition

|
After a search was conducted, the UNT Health Board this week unanimously recommended the appointment of Dr. Kathleen Forbes, UNTHSC executive vice president for Clinical Affairs and Business Development, to the additional role of president for UNT Health. Dr. Scott Ransom, UNTHSC president, made the offer and Dr. Forbes accepted.
Dr. Forbes will replace Randy Jones, who earlier this year decided to step down. Dr. Forbes and Jones will work together to develop a transition plan for the leadership of the physician practice group. |

|
Town Hall meetings for all UNT Health physicians and staff to review current progress and summarize the transition plan will take place Wednesday, May 28, at noon and again on Thursday, May 29, at 7:30 am. Check Daily News for updates and locations.
HSC to launch physical therapy program
Beginning in Fall 2010, UNTHSC will offer a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the School of Health Professions. Dr. Clayton Holmes, a native of Nixon, Texas, has been named chair of the new Department of Physical Therapy. He will help develop the new program into one of the country’s leading physical therapy schools and the choice of incoming physical therapy students. The program will meld cutting-edge physical therapy education with manipulative medicine through the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and UNTHSC's Physical Medicine Institute.

Build your department’s Web site… even if you don’t know HTML
Information Technology Services' (ITS) Information Systems group has developed SiteBuilder, a new tool that allows UNTHSC departments and approved organizations to spread the word about their programs and services by easily building and maintaining their own Web sites. You can choose a template and add links, text, pictures, documents and forms without requiring Web programming services from ITS. SiteBuilder is easy to use and promotes self service. Plus, the process is fast – from start to finish Web sites can be online within a few days.

Schools honor stellar grads
We all know that our graduates and students are the best at what they do, but an extra pat on the back always feels great. Each school recently held its annual awards banquet to honor and reward its students for exceptional performance. Congratulations to the students, faculty and staff of the Health Science Center who were honored at these events.

Watch the OMCT demolition from your office
More of the former OMCT building came down last week, providing a spectacular show. New webcams on top of the EAD building and Patient Care Center give us a bird’s-eye view of the remainder of the demolition, as well as the construction of the new Public Health Education (PHE) building. For now, you can only view the cameras on computers linked to UNTHSC's internal network.
