Rhonda Roby, PhD, project coordinator for the UNT Center for Human Identification, was named a Healthcare Hero by the Fort Worth Business Press in its Feb. 23 edition for her dedication to the fields of research and healthcare.

John Licciardone, DO, MS, MBA, professor and executive director of the Osteopathic Research Center, was recently appointed as Osteopathic Heritage Foundation Distinguished Chair in Clinical Research for the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.

The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences held a reception this week to honor these faculty members who recently received new grants:

Anuja Ghorpade, PhD, professor and vice chair of Cell Biology and Genetics

Jamboor Vishwanatha, PhD, dean of GSBS and professor of Molecular Biology and Immunology

The Chili Cook-off Challenge, hosted by the Office of Financial Aid, raised $1,557 for student scholarships. There were 15 entries in this year’s contest.

People’s Choice Award – selected by attendees

  • Winner: Meagan Cross, coordinator for academic support (prize: Chili Cook-off Challenge plaque)
  • Runner up: Thomas Moorman, EdD, vice president of student affairs (prize: art book donated by Wendy Haynes)

President’s Award - selected by President Scott Ransom; Rusty Reeves, PhD, assistant professor of Cell Biology and Genetics; and Bill Webb, friend of the Health Science Center and scholarship donor

  • Winner - des Anges Cruser, PhD, MPA, associate professor and research education director at the Osteopathic Research Center, and director of research and psychology in the Department of Psychiatry (prize: Chili Cook-off Challenge trophy)
