Where our money comes from
Right now, the Texas Legislature is in session hashing out the state’s budget for the next two years. And just a few weeks ago, Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst and Speaker of the House Joe Straus asked the Health Science Center and other state institutions to prepare for a possible two-and-a-half percent budget cut because of the sluggish economy. With all of this talk of funding, this seems like a good time to explain where the Health Science Center gets its funding and how it is spent.

The Cowtown Marathon was a huge success
The UNT Health Science Center’s first year as title sponsor of the Cowtown Marathon was a huge success! Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief and the event’s sponsors joined us for a kick-off reception on campus; almost 700 people attended our UNT Health Fair; almost 18,000 people participated in one of the races; and more than 10,000 people visited our booth at the Expo. Thanks to everyone who was involved. Click here for photos of all of the events.
