FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth has promoted Stephen Barrett to director of facilities management. His new responsibilities include overseeing all campus construction, renovations, utilities and maintenance. As director, Barrett supervises more than 80 health science center employees.
Barrett will head construction of the health science center’s $27.5 million Biotechnology Center and Public Health building, which is set to break ground this fall. Prior to his promotion, Barrett served as interim director of facilities management and construction manager for the health science center. In those roles, he supervised the building of the health science center’s $11.5 million parking garage and oversaw the $7.5 million finish out project completing the six-story Patient Care Center. He also recently completed a $3.2 million project designed to increase energy efficiency on campus.
Barrett received his undergraduate degree in construction technology from Southwest Texas State University in 1998.
