Student volunteers from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) at UNT Health Science Center provided free physicals recently to local Boy Scout Troop 499.

The event took place during the troops' regular scheduled meeting at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth.

All Boy Scout members are required to receive a physical, and not all insurance carriers cover the exam.

The effort was led by Darrin D'Agostino, DO, MPH, Chairman of Internal Medicine.

"All scouts are required to have annual physical exams for a number of reasons," Dr. D'Agostino said. "Because of the financial burden on many families, we feel this is a great service we can provide to the youth in our community. The TCOM students are wonderful assets and help us promote healthy lifestyles."

UNT Health, the clinical component of UNTHSC, is one of Tarrant County's largest multi-specialty group practices, offering more than 220 specialty providers dedicated to creating solutions for a healthier community.
