The front page of the Star-Telegram featured Christian Dean and Sam Selby, two second-year Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine students, pursuing practices in primary care. The front page of the Business Press quoted Scott Winter, MD, about the growing demand for geriatric psychiatrists. The Business Press also ran an article announcing this year's '40 under 40.' Elizabeth Trevino Dawson, DrPH, and Jennifer Trevino were named to the 2010 list of honorees.
A news release on the recent findings of the Prostitute Diversion Initiative received coverage on over 240 news sites, including Forbes.com.
Another front page article came out in the March 23 issue of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on public hospitals facing potential cuts in funding from healthcare bill. Don Peska, DO, was interviewed about how this might affect medical students, saying they are likely to find a steady supply of patients who are able to pay for healthcare. This article was picked up by other media outlets as well.
The Travel Medicine Clinic was featured in a story on the front page of Fort Worth Business Press on March 22. Tasleyma Sattar, DO, was quoted about the clinic's focus: preventing diseases with vaccines, prescriptions and education and managing diseases a patient may already have. The Business Press also released an article that same day announcing CPRIT awards, specifically noting Kathryn Cardarelli, PhD, for her $299,930 grant to focus on breast cancer through the Dallas Cancer Disparities Community Coalition: Breast Cancer Prevention Education.
