Bay Area Medical Center at Corpus Christi

Bay Area Medical Center is a full-service, acute care hospital with an adjacent three-story medical office building. Specialized areas include a 24-hour Emergency Department, The Breast Center of South Texas, and an Orthopedics Unit. The Bay Area Campus is also home to The Women's Center at Bay Area and The Corpus Christi Cancer Center, a full-service, free-standing cancer center. Adjacent to the Bay Area Campus is The Heart Hospital, which was built for the purpose of serving our heart patients. This unique facility is equipped with the latest in heart care technology, offering comprehensive diagnostics, treatment and surgical procedures close to home. Our 72-bed facility features cardiac catheterization labs, state-of-the-art operating rooms, coronary care beds, telemetry beds, non-invasive diagnostic facilities, and a fully equipped cardiac rehabilitation center.

We offer an AOA-approved three-year Family Practice Residency Program, an AOA-approved Traditional Internship, and effective July 30, 2009, we were approved for a residency in Internal Medicine.  Dr. Steven Gates will act as Program Director and Dr. Antonio Guzman will act as Ambulatory Clinic Director. This residency has been approved for (12) positions and we are currently accepting applications through ERAS for the upcoming training year beginning July 2010. The academic program for this residency will include daily admissions reports and noon conferences, headed up by Dr. Richard Romero, our Director of Academic Medicine. We have an enthusiastic group of physicians that encourage a great deal of hands-on experience under full one-on-one supervision. Click here to read about our Internship and Residency Programs.
