Alzheimer's Disease Education and Referral Center (ADEAR) The ADEAR Center is a service of the National Institute on Aging (NIA). The NIA is one of the National Institutes of Health under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Visitors here will find the most up-to-date information that has been published about Alzheimer's and other disease related to aging. Its list of resources is impressive, both in size and in content. Read fact sheets, find out about the latest research news from the National Institute on Aging or scan the Clinical Trials Database. A calendar of events keeps visitors abreast of nationwide conferences and meetings about Alzheimer's disease.
Alzheimer's Disease Program Texas Department of Health The Texas Department of Health is responsible for developing supportive and educational programs to assist Alzheimer's patients, their families and long-term care providers. The Alzheimer's Disease Program (ADP) coordinates development and maintenance of a statewide Alzheimer's network composed of families of Alzheimer's victims, caregivers, organizations, agencies, legislators, business leaders and interested citizens. ADP also maintains a statewide Alzheimer's information and referral system regarding resources available to caregivers, providers, family members, agencies, groups and individuals. ADP provides packets with general information on Alzheimer's as well as specialized packets for medical professionals.
American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry The Association promotes the mental health and well-being of older people and works to improve the care of those with late-life mental disorders.
American Geriatrics Society This website provides information to geriatrics health care professionals, the public, and other concerned individuals dedicated to improving the health, independence and quality of life of all older people.
Diagnostic Center for Alzheimer's Disease The Diagnostic Center for Alzheimer's Disease and Neuropathology Laboratory at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City is dedicated to the study of Alzheimer's disease. Their goal is to develop ways to diagnose the disease before many nerve cells have died and to develop drug treatments that prevent further nerve cell death.
National Stroke Association This site features inforamtion on new treatments, clinical trails, prevention programs and links to related sites.
Safe Return The Alzheimer's Association Safe Return program is the only nationwide system designed to help identify, locate and return to safety individuals who are memory impaired due to Alzheimer's disease or a related disorder.
Texas Council on Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders The council's mission is to recommend needed action for the benefit of persons with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders and their caregivers. To disseminate information on services and related activities for persons with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders to the medical and academic communities, caregivers, advocacy associations, and the general public. To coordinate services and activities of state agencies, other service providers and advocacy groups relating to persons with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. To advocate statewide coordinated research and to increase dollars allocated for research to benefit persons with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.
