H. Fred Downey, Ph.D. Director

H. Fred Downey, Ph.D., is Professor and Vice Chairman of the UNT Health Science Center's Department of Integrative Physiology. Dr. Downey earned his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois-Urbana. His research interests focus on the mechanisms controlling coronary blood flow to normal, hypoxic, and ischemic myocardium. Dr. Downey is a member of the American Heart Association, American Physiological Society, International Society for Heart Research, Microcirculatory Society, and the Society for Experimental Biology & Medicine.
