Students currently enrolled at the University of North Texas are eligible for free counseling at the Counseling & Testing Center in the Union Building. The Center offers personal, career, and couple counseling. Those students having problems with alcohol or other chemicals can obtain assessment, education, referral, and brief interventions either at the Counseling & Testing Center or NT Challenge which is located in the Student Health Center.

Dr. John Hipple who is on the Counseling Center staff specializes in problems experienced by student musicians. Such concerns as performance anxiety, communication, goal setting, career indecision, perfectionism, and stress are common among students majoring in music.

To set an appointment for a counseling session, students may call the Counseling Center at (940) 565-2741. The Center is open 8 A.M. - 5 P.M. Mondays through Fridays. In addition the Center is open from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
