Office of Grant & Contract Management
Pre-award Grant Procedures
The Principal Investigator
(PI) obtains the External Proposal Transmittal Form (blue),
the Conflict of Interest UNTHSC Form 95-006B (pink), and the Research Fact Sheet
from the Office of Grant & Contract Management (OGCM).
The PI then completes
the application materials, signs all forms, and submits them
with the blue transmittal form and the pink conflict of interest form
to the departmental chair for review and signature.
The application is
routed to the Office of Grant & Contract Management for review
and signature. A completed grant proposal is necessary for approval by the OGCM.
The application submission
data is entered into the grants data base and accession numbers are assigned
as part of a permanent file system.
* Projects involving
biological safety, human subjects, animals, radioisotopes

* Special contracts
require the review and signature approval of the Associate VP for
Research and Biotechnology, the Institutional Attorney, the VP for Fiscal
Affairs, and the VP for Academic Affairs. Please forward all subcontracts to LeAnn Forsberg, Director of the OGCM, prior to submitting to any of the above individuals.
OGCM approves
the grant proposal and then phones the PI for pick-up. The PI mails the grant application
to the external sponsor.

in some cases may be approved after grant submission and before
the award is made.
