Dr. Jamboor Vishwanatha
… was invited to speak at the Bangalore Bio 2007 biotechnology conference in Bangalore, India. Dr Vishwanatha presented his research on using nanotechnology to treat cancer at a session on Frontier Technologies & Innovations in Research and Development.

The Health Science Center’s Weight Watchers group
…has collectively dropped 223 pounds after their recent 15 week program. The next 15 week program is underway and you can still sign up. Contact Lori Fielding or visit the Weight Watchers Web site.

Jackline Opollo, School of Public Health student
…was recently awarded the Hospital Corporation of America First Humanitarian Award at Medical City Dallas Hospital, where she’s a registered nurse.  But that’s not all… she also received the 2007 Dallas Fort Worth Hospital Council Employee of the Year award for outstanding commitment and passion for global health issues. Opollo will be heading to Uganda this summer as part of the North Texas Africa Health Initiative to find ways to improve care for HIV/AIDS patients.

Amy Chambers, senior administrative assistant in the Department of Pharmacology and Neuroscience
… received the Old Shoe Award from the Junior League of Fort Worth for going “above and beyond” her duties as a Junior League active member. Over her 10 years with the Junior League Chambers has volunteered at Mayfest, the Rodeo, the National Cowgirl Museum, Casa Manana and with many other events and organizations.

Dr. Bruce Dubin
… was selected to receive the 2007 AOF Educator of the Year Award by the American Osteopathic Foundation’s Committee on Educational Grants. UNT HSC Logo
