HSC gets Chamber newsletter front page
The Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce August newsletter, published in the Star-Telegram, featured the Health Science Center and other local higher education institutions on the front page of the supplement. HSC news in the column included the appearance of the DNA Lab Identity Lab in USA Today and the School of Public Health’s recent seven-year re-accreditation.
UNT Health physician honors appear in Business section
Dr. Mark Sanders and Dr. Janice Knebl received attention in the Star-Telegram’s July 30 Business section for recent honors – he was named Texas Osteopathic Medical Associations’s 2007 New Physician of the Year, and she was selected as a fellow in this year’s Leadership in Academic Medicine program.
Accident on campus gets TV coverage
NBC 5 and CBS 11 both aired live 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. feeds from the Health Science Center campus on July 24 with pre-recorded footage of the fire department rescue of a contract worker who fell in one of the AC cooling towers. The stations repeated the prerecorded stories at 10 p.m.
UNT Health adds to physician practice
The Fort Worth Business Press announced the addition of Dr. R. Larry Marshall, rheumatologist, to the UNT Health physician practice in its July 30 edition.
Do vitamins repel mosquitoes?
Dr. Brent Sanderlin of family and community medicine was the featured physician in the Star-Telegram’s “Ask the Doc” column on July 30, in which he answered that extra B1 vitamins do not repel mosquitoes, but that products containing DEET, picaridin, and lemon eucalyptus oil are effective repellants, while products containing geranium and soybean oils, and citronella are somewhat effective.
