Students, staff and faculty help make 9th annual Hispanic Wellness Fair a success
More than 15,000 people received free health services – including vision exams, cancer screenings, HIV/AIDS tests, respiratory screenings, dental exams, mammograms, glucose tests, diabetes screenings, nutrition screenings and hypertension screenings.
In addition to checking blood pressures, performing OMT, hauling supplies and assisting nurses, TCOM students took turns donning a Beatrice (or Bert) the Bee costume to entertain more than 400 children who were immunized at the BeWise-Immunize/Immunization Collaboration of Tarrant County booth.
The six-hour fair was held Aug. 4 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center. The Health Science Center co-founded the event in 1999, and this year was a Gold Sponsor.
